Quick information:
In Japan there is a practice called “otoshi dama”
It is where children are given little envelopes with money from friends/family/relatives to spend or save how they choose.
We gave Hina, Kana and Shu some money, and we gave Noa an envelope with a UNO card in it.
He was very happy. He pulled it out and said “it’s money” (in Japanese), and as he is prone to do, pulled me aside and said (in English) “money”. He likes to translate for the white guy who doesn’t understand Japanese very well…
Happy New Year!
