Compensation for slow updates…?
maybe.
all things d@vidb
Recently I thought to myself that it seemed that finally Kiko has started storing some of Noa’s old toys (for Noa version 2.0: Kunio-kun) when I couldn’t find a ton of his puzzle pieces and other flat objects.
While I was cleaning the living room I decided to lift the couch and dust.
“Noa had hidden all his flat toys under there, har har har” not quite.
THE ENTIRE FLOOR BENEATH THE COUCH WAS COVERED in an intricate design with every single flat toy or thing he stolen from us all fitting together perfectly.
Not only had he managed to fit everything under there perfectly, but he did so in a manner in which nothing was showing out and that even the middle was filled in.
weird.
Guess where I played soccer this morning!? The Tokyo Dome.
What’s that you ask? It’s like the equivalent of playing at Yankee’s Stadium or something like that. The Tokyo Dome is home to the Yomiuri Giants, which is where Matsui (important to note that Matsui is my best friend) used to play for in Japan.
We had the whole stadium to ourselves and it was pretty exciting.
I had some cool pictures with the team, but my camera-phone-camera-thingy got all fogged up in the excitement.
Occasionally people ask about Japan. How is it? Is it really as crazy as people say it is? Where is the great wall? Is it really expensive as it is?
Since we don’t really talk much about it here, we decided to show this picture: (can you guess what it is!?)
It’s a melon. A cantaloupe. That’s it. Nothing special.
oh wait… if you thought that, you would be WRONG
It’s a muskat melon (??), and if you calculate the two prices on there, it would equal about $120 and $150 Canadian for each of those melons. ONE MELON.
Tastes just like cantaloupe. I settled for an $8 bag of kinkans (kumquat). Wow, I didn’t even know what a kumquat was until right now. I always assumed it was a vegetable. It’s not. It’s a little mini-orange whose skin you eat.
Finally, a big HAPPY WEDDING to my good friend Shin who married his girlfriend of a few years (met in Toronto!), Yukie.
Once again, my camera is foggy, so please be forgiving. Shin, Yukie, CONGRATULATIONS!!!
That may or may not be Yoshi in the background.
(Apparently black shirt, black suit, black ties aren’t cool at Japanese weddings.) oops.
Oops. I promised some weirdness in my last update. I forgot the weirdness.
You want weirdness?
Let’s see… how about the Perverted Old Man Photography Club that has young models come and pose in front of various things picture? Today’s theme was cherry blossoms.
Apparently they meet every once in awhile and have models stand in front of different things where they take pictures. This was just the first round. Right as we were leaving they had changed into mini skirts and there was a camera taking frenzy. nice… never mind the lack of cherry blossoms.
Ok… we should balance that out with a cool picture of Noa (because he is cool.)
He looks like a rapper.
Hmm… still not balanced.
Let’s add in a movie of him saying something random:

Finally, people have been asking about what Noa likes.
Here is a list of things that Noa likes that may or may not be correct.
Recently he loves peeling off stickers. Fortunately he usually puts them on paper.
Remember how we said Noa got a new bike? Well he was pissed because we haven’t shown it to you yet.
He is so cool. He has no idea about steering though. It takes forever for him to go anywhere because we have to keep readjusting his trajectory.
More importantly is news on Noa’s gheyness. Look at these pictures I found.
Thats right…. Noa also knows female children.
(that makes one of us. to be perfectly honest, I have no idea who this child is. I found it on my computer after I uploaded the latest batch of pictures. Never seen the kid before in my life. What is she doing with Noa? I have no idea. Let’s ask Kiko.)
Unfortunately she was pushing Noa around.
After he came home I beat some sense into him and set things straight.
That’s right! You go where Noa tells you to go.
Who ever said Noa was ghey? [1] [2] [3]
(it may or may not have been caused when Jim rammed his head into a light fixture at the age of one month)
(this resulted in the following picture)
And finally… I promised you helicopters.

What does this all prove?
That baby awesome is still awesome.
When davidandkiko.com first started, I was updating about once a week.
After Noa was born we managed to update every few days.
Unfortunately I seem to have fallen off the cart.
We have a ton of photos and videos to upload, but between the new computer, the broken photo album, and the busy schedule, I have been very lax in getting it up. Kiko is chiding me to show off her beautiful photography, so I will have some up soon.
The weirdest part is, although you guys aren’t commenting as much, we have more visitors visiting regularly than ever! So post!! You are making Noa cry.
Cherry blossoms, Soccer, New Work, New Teeth, New Words… we have a ton of updates coming soon!
In the meantime:
Look at Noa drumming
or, perhaps you can look at the Tokyo subway map handkerchief I got.
Has it returned!?!?!
Here is a picture of Noa and his new “friend”.
See how pleased he looks?
psst…. Did you know it was NOA not NO-WA?? For some reason everyone in Japan pronounces it with a W.
So much for it being easy to see in both languages… 😉
So, how was our week?
It wasn’t too exciting. It is almost Sakura (Cherry Blossom) season, so we have been taking it easy.
We thought we would take this opportunity to show you what we have been up to recently.
First things first, people wanted more of the half-baby parade.
Noa was also transported to Toys R Us where his Grandmother (over here) bought him a wheel rider. He loved it in the store, but has since decided that he only wants to push it around.
Noa has also decided that he can get angry for reasons ranging from nothing to not getting him his milk quick enough.
For those of you who doubt Noa can speak English. Here he is talking about his favourite thing.

I have decided that Noa likes rabbits. See here.

I think Kiko may have finally overtaken me in the photo department.
Noa went to his first half-baby (half is a term commonly used in Japan. It is pronounced “haa fuu”) party.
Weird.
But apparently it was great. Lots of cute little half babies. One in particular had crazy big eyes.
He made lots of half baby friends.
And he met the man who makes half babies.
That is all.
… with a special appearance by me.
…. directed by Kiko.
So! Noa loves elephants. In Japan apaprently elephants go “Paaaaaauuu” so that’s what Noa screams whenever he sees an elephant. Our good friend, Nakanishi-san, bought Noa a nice big elephant stuff toy. Watch as Noa opens it up!

The next weekend we took a trip to Toys R Us. There, Noa shows his gift for singing (clearly better than Jim) while playing the piano. Heres a picture:

and finally
NOA VS. Tickle Me Elmo X : Round 2
So, our very dear friends Mike and Lara bought Noa a ticklet me Elmo before Christmas last year. (Thank you!!!) You should have seen the shuddering and terror it brought to Noa. Unfortunately we couldn’t get the video up. Well, we haven’t been able to bring it out of the box because Noa has developed some sort of trauma over it.
We thought that since we were in Toys R Us, and Noa was having such a good time, that we would give it another go in a new environment to see if he hadn’t warmed up to Elmo….
