Birthday’s in November

I am still committed to having big plans for this site… don’t you worry.

In the meantime, Hana is talking up a storm and has shown to be quite tough.

Noa asked me what a hypothesis was, and that in combination with him making the connection between people and chimpanzees/gorillas/monkeys when we were discussing evolution, I am convinced he is brilliant!

Either way, Hana had her 2nd birthday on November 9th (the keen observers may note I also turned 30!) and Noa turned 4 on the 16th.

November in the Park

So.. for some reason unbeknownst to Noa and I, our Zoo/Dinosaur museum combo national-holiday day turned into a day at the park.

Noa “loved” the big slide, if ramming him down the slide as he screamed at me that he was going to die.

So far so good…

Getting there… (Noa really really enjoyed his ride on the train by the way. Hana, not so much.) That is Hana’s cute pose by the way.

Oh wait… apparently I didn’t get a good shot of him almost spastically throwing himself off the slide.

Once we started moving he seemed to enjoy himself.

She wasn’t.

Halloween in Japan

I promised less pictures of kids and more me goodness, didn’t I?

Highlights from Thailand

Had our first real family vacation (other than Guam) to a foreign country.

Quick Update: Kiko’s Bags

So I think I mentioned that Kiko is into sewing. While she has made us family pyjamas, the majority-benefactors of Kiko’s sewing are the kids.

Noa is in Kindergarten … by the way

So some people have been asking what Noa is up to.

He is in kindergarten. Hana chills at home, but Noa goes, kicking and screaming, most days to kindergarten.

Here is him on his first day in April.

Hana’s Unexpected Hair Cut

Someone though it was a good idea to cut Hana’s hair… guess who?

At least someone didn’t think it was a good idea to stab her in the neck.

Pre-Singapore Noa and Hana love

Off to Singapore!

Just got back from Tanegashima with the kids. Noa was very sad to see me go and makes me count the nights before he can see me again.

Family trip to Tanegashima

It’s summer vacation! So we can either have the kids hang around all summer and drive us (mostly Kiko!) crazy, or we can ship the family off to Tanegashima.

This year, it happens to align with the total eclipse (I’ll give you a hint… rain) where the Southern tip of Tanegashima was in the 100% zone.

We also took a side trip to Yakushima, the island that inspired Hayao Miayazaki’s Princess Mononoke (Look it up) and Noa got to play with nature (touch bugs), and both Hana and Noa got to play with their cousins.

I took one week (the first one) with them and am heading back to Tokyo shortly. I have a feeling he is going to forget all his English by the time he gets back, so I have loaded him up with some Super Why! (Look it up!) and Transformers.
