Real Breaking News – Let’s Walking!
That’s right… Not only is Noa the cutest baby in the land, but apparently he is the cutest most walkingest baby in the world.
Booya.
I start my first real job tomorrow, wish me luck. I guess this was Noa’s present to me. Watch Noa walking, and walking and dancing. He likes the dancing… a lot. He is also a very skilled dancer.
You want proof? OK. I have just been told that my Noa is walking video has been superceded by a video Kiko took a few days ago. Umm… thanks for the update on my baby walking by the way. The second video (shot by me!) features some dancing… I have decided not to tell Kiko that Noa can dance.
Noa can laugh
OK Ok ok… so maybe not the best of titles (or videos),but despite the fact that Noa can take 7 steps (7 steps!!) (and more when given proper motivation… like a good beating… or food) he also has decided that he won’t do it for the camera.
So in the meantime (before the breaking “he can walk!” news) here is a video of Noa… laughing! (note the haircut.)
The Blair Witch Project
Breaking news. Crazed german attacks innocent bear with paddle.
Hmm… Perhaps I am mistaken… maybe he is simply trying to flag down a bear with those paddles so he can befriend it…
oh wait… see this. (view the crazed paddle man movie and decide for yourself!)
Apparently he does want to destroy bears… with his paddles. (!?)
hold me. I’m frightened.
(by the way, this is Noa’s new favourite video.)
Hard Gay
Has Noa got the ghey?
That one is still up in the air, but I don’t really know how to describe Hard Gay, aka Crazy-Japanese-Comedian?-Man, other than by saying he is very very not gay. If there was a gayness competition, Noa would win hands down.
Anyways, to summarize, Hard Gay is a Japanese comedian that goes around thrusting his hips at small children. Hmm… weird. At any rate, his trademark move is to say something and then scream “Fo—!” really loud. (Teaching was great when we got to the number 4 and I had all the children of Japan screaming at me while raising there hands in a Hard Gay pose.)
… I just realized I am writing about Hard Gay so I will cut this short here. Anyways, the day before we left Hard Gay was brought to Takamatsu for the Takamatsu Festival. We stood in a huge crowd just so we could get a picture of Hard Gay screaming “Takamatsu Fo—!” which made everyone in Takamatsu feel special.
I don’t think Noa was that impressed that we made him sit through that.
But at least we were able to get this…
(people complained about the irrelevance of this post. So here is a picture of Noa destroying some fruit with dagger #1 and #2… and obviously feeling bad for the destruction that he brought upon the poor orange.)
I’m sorry Mr. Orange.
It’s too late Noa…. too late.
Noa’s Recent Accomplishments
We have been very busy here in Canada seeing family and hanging out with friends when we can squeeze some time in between (wish it could be more often and for longer periods of time!! 🙁 ). We have a ton of photos and videos that we would like to get up, but as our computer is in a box somewhere between Kagawa and Tokyo, updating hasn’t been as smooth as we would have liked.
As busy as we have been, Noa has been equally as busy! While maintaining solid growth of dagger #1 and #2, Noa has also mastered a few other things like standing, reading, and dancing.
Some of you may question Noa’s reading ability… he actually loves books. A lot. He enjoys us reading to him, but also likes to go through the books himself and “read.” Take a look…

Noa has also mastered the art of dancing.
Noa’s Training
Along with his rigourous ninja training, we also train Noa to do more mundane things.
…like using dagger to destroy a plum (his first!)…
An even better showcase of Noa’s brillance is him responding to his own name. Here is some video of Kiko calling out his name (“Bennett Noa-kun!” [Japanese name order and -kun, a Japanese honorific] and Noa respoding by raising his hand and saying “Hai!” [yes!]. My baby can kick your baby’s ass. Even if your baby doesn’t even exist yet.
Back in the day…
Instead of posting pictures of Noa, I give you this:
And now for a Noa video…
Remember our discussion of flowing noodles? While Scott & Stacey were visiting with us in Japan, we were invited for some more flying noodles.
Noa got in on the action. He was amazing at catching the noodles.
Good news and bad news…
First the bad news…
Remember the excitement of all of our vegetables last year? Even though Kiko has had some pretty exciting mini-tomato results, it looks like our watermelons are in trouble. 🙁
We planted 2 watermelon plants last year and got 20~30 watermelons. This year we planted 4 watermelon plants and have got…. 1 watermelon.
I was doing my best to make sure that it stayed healthy so we could at least eat one watermelon this year (currently selling for 400yen for 1/4 a watermelon at the grocery store) when I came upon this:
looks good right? wrong.
… and no one believed me that dogs destroyed the last of our watermelons last year!!! Look at that split… a claw I tell you. 😐
And now the good news…
Noa can use his walker to walk around!!! … sort of. He can only use one foot… and can only go backward… in an arc… but it’s a start!)
in transition…
Arg… I just realized we have so many cute pictures of Noa and us that I want to put up, but I have a backlog of photos that are waiting to be posted. I will post these now and give you a real update later! [Actually, I changed my mind. Although there is still lots more to update you with, take a look at the end of this post at the genius that is my son.]
Noa’s affair with Miffy is still going strong.
As is his love for the samurai haircut and the ring in his mouth…
Look at my new jeans… they are super.
and finally, bask in the glory that is my sons super high intelligence. (he can wave now!)
